Engaging with consumers from diverse backgrounds in research is important. This is especially important in groups of consumers who are less likely to be involved in research; this includes culturally and linguistically diverse consumers, carers and families. The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care encourages this in Standard 2 partnering with Consumers; Action 2.11: Partnerships in healthcare governance planning, design, measurement and evaluation. Some Local Health Districts employ multicultural health officers whose services may include research.

New South Wales Regional Health Partners respectfully acknowledge Aboriginal people as the past, present and future traditional custodians of the land and recognise their continued connection to land, waters and culture. We aim to partner with the Elders, community members and community controlled health services to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people.
