A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is an alternative form of documentation that may be used to reflect the researchers (and/or their organisation) intent to collaborate with another researcher/ organisation through co-operation, sharing information, knowledge and/ or skills. An MOU is a non-legal binding document.

An MOU is an alternative to a CTRA, and may be used for Investigator Initiated studies to:

  • Formalise the collaboration
  • Define the scope of the collaboration
  • Delineate roles and responsibilities of each collaborator
  • Describe data sharing and data storage
  • Document Confidentiality and intellectual property
